How to Make a Skivvy Roll

The Skivvy Roll

The skivvy roll is a technique perfected by the Marines for packing the essentials quickly and efficiently.  It's perfect for making sure you're always ready for a workout, especially when don't want to carry a separate gym bag—because there's nothing worse than getting to the gym and realizing you forgot your shorts.

Just follow these steps to roll up your shirt, shorts, and spare pairs of socks and underwear. You'll have a complete workout kit that's smaller than your post-exercise burrito. Roll up a few at the beginning of the week and grab one on the way out the door in the morning.

Lay your workout tee flat onto the ground. Now over the center of that, lay down a folded pair of shorts and compression or underwear.

Take either side of the tee and fold it inwards right above the shoulder line. Then do the same to the other side. Make sure to smooth out any creases so you don't end up with a wrinkled shirt.

Take your favorite pair of crew socks. Making sure the openings are facing outwards, and the heels are inside where the now folded sleeves are near the collar, lay them down one over the other. Then roll the tee tightly downwards. The tighter the roll, the less space you take up.

(Pro tip: If you prefer ankle socks, set them to the side until the end and pull them tight around the roll.)

Finally, once you have your shirt rolled nice and tight, take one of the sock openings and bring it inside out over the roll. Then repeat with the other side. You're done! You've now got your skivvy roll of activewear essential ready to go. Just don't forget your shoes.
